The War Broads of Milton Caniff
April.12.2009
This episode of Onomatopoeia examines the ladies of Milton Caniff. In Terry & the Pirates, and Male Call, Milton Caniff’s women were no shrinking violets. When put in context, the amount of women and the caliber of women that appeared in his work, was unusual. These comic strips take place from the mid 30’s to the mid 40’s and were illustrated by a master. IDW has been publishing gorgeous tomes, so theres no more excuses to ignore this oldie but goodie.
